A Conference In Memory of Dmitry (Dima) Ioffe

General Public Transportation Information
We recommend using Google maps for travel directions (by public transportation or car). For your convenience, Google Maps links are included in the description below. The smartphone app moovit also works very well in Israel.

Train:
Trains run all week, except during the Israeli Shabbat weekend (Friday afternoon to Saturday evening). Tickets are purchased before you board the train, either from an agent at the ticket office or using the automated machines.  Both options are available at all stations. Credit cards are accepted. Note that there is a train line from Ben Gurion Airport to Haifa, but that this route is not always available on Fridays. Click here for train's website.
Bus:
Buses run all week, with a limited schedule at night and during the Israeli Shabbat weekend (Friday afternoon to Saturday evening). In particular, there are no buses from the airport to Haifa during the Shabbat.  Click here for bus company's website.
Taxi:

Be sure to use only authorized taxis and insist that the driver turns on the meter. Uber and other ride sharing services are not an option in Israel. Most taxi drivers accept only cash. A convenient way to order a taxi is through the smartphone app "gett", which also offers the ability to pay by credit card.

The Technion Campus
Most conference activity will take place on the Technion campus, in the first-floor auditorium of the Bloomfield building (home of the Industrial Engineering Faculty).

Participants staying at the Golden Crown Hotel:

A designated bus will take all participants to/from conference activity.

In terms of transportation from the airport to the Golden Crown Hotel, we recommend taking the train from Ben Gurion Airport.  Participants should take the train headed to "Nahariya" and get off at the station "Haifa Merkaz HaShmona".  The hotel is an 8 minute walk from the train station.
